Why you should read User Manuals when you buy an Electronic Appliance or Mobile Device
Every mobile device or home appliance you buy comes with a user manual and most times with a Warranty form. The user manual is to guide the buyer of the product on how to use it to enjoy best performance, how it functions to preserve the life of the product and how to prevent it from being hazardous to the user. People get carried away by the excitement of buying a new product and so don’t really bother to look through the manual step by step. The Warranty form that comes with the product is to fill up and return the product when there is a technical fault that is not caused by the user.
The user of the product will be able to understand what will keep the product from being damaged if the user manual was properly read. Any form of malfunction that was caused due to the carelessness of the user will not be covered by the warranty. This means the person will have to buy a new product and that will be after learning a hard lesson especially if it is a very expensive appliance or mobile device.
The user of a mobile phone can get killed if the battery of the phone remained plugged when it is over charged. Some Mobile phones come with auto-disconnect function when a plugged phone is fully charged. Most phones however need to be disconnected to end the charging.
A young lady got killed when she slept off and left her plugged phone charging while on her body. The phone got fully charged and stayed charging for hours, got very hot and triggered a deadly electric shock which led to the death of the innocent young lady. The best way to charge the phone and preserve the life of the battery is written clearly on the user manual.
A washing machine user had to abandon it after it started shocking terribly. The wash machine had compartments that needed to be dry at all times but the user exposed those place to moist and water and this made it shock on contact. This can actually lead to death if not for early observance on the path of the user. An electric iron is to be used under close watch.
Abandoning a plugged electric iron can lead to burnt clothes and fire outbreak. The pain that can come from getting a very expensive cloth burnt can be small compared to if the iron triggers a fire after being plugged for long without being attended to. Some electric irons are steam irons which have places that hold water. The instruction on how to fill the iron with water is written on the user manual. The iron components and wires can get wet and trigger electric shock if the water is poured into the wrong place.
A Power bank can also get burnt if instructions of use are not properly adhered to. Power banks are used for charging phones. They have to be charged first and store charges which can be later used for charging other mobile devices. A power bank can get burn and cause injury when it is over charged or used carelessly. Reading the user manual that comes with it can help to prevent a catastrophic occurrence. Children are very inquisitive and can love play around electronic gadgets and mobile phones. A power Hifi can bring noise pollution into a neighbourhood if a child increases the volume of the sound system at will. In developed countries the Police may be knocking at the door if the neighbours call 911 for noise pollution. The situation may become serious if the parent if found guilty of neglecting their little kid and exposing him or her to danger. Most devices come with safety and child lock functions which can help to prevent such eventualities. Most of these extra functions may include two or more buttons to activate it so it may not be discovered without reading through the user manual. There are specific instructions on how to use some appliances like power amps and High output sound systems.
There are instructions to keep them in a well ventilated place because they always heat up while they are being used. Instructions on how best to use such devices are clearly stated in the user manual. Wire connection of sound systems are also specifically explained in the user manual as wrong connection may prevent it from working or sounding well.
The need to always read user manuals cannot be overemphasized. Some people get to enjoy their phones more after they have used it for long. This is because they suddenly came across a special function it has on an online blog and they were like “Wow, this is so cool” meanwhile this function that triggered their fancy has always been on the phones user manual which they never read. When you read user manual of your mobile devices and home appliances, You enjoy all the functions, keep your children safe, keep yourself safe and preserve the life of your appliance because the manual will educate you about the dos and don’ts.
