Frequently Asked Questions About iPhones 8, 8 Plus and X.
On September 12, 2017, Apple introduced iPhone 8 , iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X (pronounced iPhone Ten). In this post, we will discuss on the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) customers often ask with regards to these 3 iPhone models.
What's The Difference?
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are actually similar to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, however, there have been various improvements to the processing power, cameras, screen, battery life, and more.
On the other hand, iPhone X, is very different from other iPhone models. It has a larger, higher-resolution screen, which extends almost all the way to the edge of the device. The screen also uses OLED technology (a first for the iPhone) to give even better contrast and battery life. It is notably more powerful than the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. And of course, it's also more expensive!
iPhone X has other new features, including wireless charging, facial recognition, and animated emoji. It stands out that because the features it possess can not be found in any other iPhone models, not even iPhone 8 or 8 Plus.
When will it be available?
The iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus are available now.
Why is the top of the screen shaped like that?
The screen of iPhone X doesn't quite fill the entire device. At the top of the screen, you will see a black shape that the screen curves around. Many people call it the notch . Although, many users are concerns that the notch will get in the way when viewing a full-screen video or using apps. You need to know that the notch is there for a reason: In addition to the speaker, camera, and microphone, several other sensors were added to the iPhone X in order to make the new Face ID feature work, including an infrared camera, flood illuminator, and dot projector. All of these sensors have to go somewhere, so the notch was created to accomodate these sensors.
Where is the Home button?
Well, you may have noticed that the iPhone X doesn't have a Home button. This is because the screen is extended to the edge of the device, leaving no room for a Home button. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus still have a Home button, and it should work the same as it did in previous versions.
In place of the home button, iPhone X possess new features:
•Face ID: To unlock your phone, a 3D camera will scan your face to verify your identity, allowing you to unlock your phone by simply looking at it.
•Also, several new gestures will allow you to close or switch between apps.
Is iPhone X's Face ID secure?
The new Face ID feature has brought up numerous questions about security. Could someone else unlock your iPhone by holding up a photo of you to trick the camera? Could someone who actually looks like you unlock your phone?
However, Apple claims that the Face ID is even more secure than the fingerprint-based Touch ID which is used by previous iPhones. The Face ID is not designed to be tricked by photos or people with similar faces. Only time will tell whether the security holds up to more advanced methods. You can use a passcode instead if you are concerned about the security.
How does wireless charging work?
iPhones X, 8, and 8 Plus are all capable of wireless charging, meaning you can actually put your phone onto a special charging mat instead of plugging it in. Apple does not have a charging mat yet, however, some brands make mats that are compatible with iPhone. It is important to use a mat that uses the Qi wireless charging standard .
If you do not like a charging mat, you can charge your phone using the included Lightning cable.
Wireless charging is not "perfect". It's slower when compared to wired charging. The charging mat itself has to be plugged into a power source like a computer or wall outlet. Moreover, you can charge multiple devices (e.g. iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods) with a single charging mat.
How Expensive are they?
• iPhone 8 (64GB) has a 4.7-inch screen and starts at $699 .
• iPhone 8 Plus (64GB) has a 5.5-inch screen and starts at $799 .
• iPhone X (64GB) has a 5.8-inch screen and starts at $999 .
256GB versions are also available for iPhones 8, 8 Plus and X.
Which iPhone should I buy?
The long list of iPhone versions gives users a lot of flexibility to choose an option that will fit their needs and budgets.
The iPhone X actually has the highest-quality screen, and also possess some other features that are not available on the 8 or 8 Plus, like Face ID. It is significantly more expensive, so you'll want to rethink about whether you need the extra features.
iPhones 8 and 8 Plus do not have some of the features of the iPhone X, however, they still have better specs than older iPhone versions. You still get to enjoy a better camera, faster processor, and other updated features.
If you can not afford the iPhones 8, 8 Plus or X, you are go for the older versions which could be notably cheaper.
