Lenovo 500e Chromebook Review – The New 2-in-1 School-friendly Laptop is Worth it!
Were you in search of a durable laptop which can survive drops and handle everyday school workload? If yes, then the 2-in-1 Chromebook from Lenovo would the right choice for you. The Lenovo 500e Chromebook has been military tested for its durability. You are offered an 11.6-inch display, a decent battery life and speakers in addition to a rugged chassis with this convertible.
The 11.6-inch IPS screen of this beautiful device has a resolution of 1366x768 with 360-degree foldable hinge. This device can accept notes when written using an HB2 pencil. Moreover, the use of pencil does not leave the device with markings all over. The model comes with its own stylus which offers a lag-free input. The display features a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is resistant to damage. The track pad pan and keyboard is resistant to water, which implies that an accidental spill is not going to cost you a fortune.
This model basically has everything that you are looking in a modern Chromebook. This device is powered by a 64-bit Intel Celeron N3450U. The 32GB storage and use of 4GB RAM put this model at par with other Chromebook devices in the market.
Touch & Display
The display of 500e Chromebook is quite impressive. It showcases bright and rich visuals although the colors somewhere seem to be a bit saturated. The viewing angles are wide and nice. The glossy 1366x768 resolution display does not fail to impress. This Chromebook features the patented touch system by Lenovo which was designed for the Yoga tablets offered by the company. The Enhanced Touch permits users to use any household stuff such as paper clips, pens and pencils to interact with the device’s touch screen. Although, these cannot beat the feedback one can have with the dedicated stylus, as the convenience offered is outstanding.
The Chromebook 500e is powered by Intel HD graphics, 4G RAM and 1.1-GHz Intel Celeron N3450U processor. If we ignore a few lags, this device is capable of offering a decent performance during everyday usage. This device remains relatively cool after streaming an HD video of fifteen minute duration. The webcam captures decent images and videos. The images although lack proper contrast, seemed pretty vibrant. The integration of Google Play on this device is seamless. Overall, the Chromebook 500e offers a great user experience. As far as the sound system is concerned, this device can reverberate in a medium-sized conference room.
Battery life & Warranty
The device can last for up to 10 hours with continuous usage. This is longer than what is noted in average Chromebooks. One year limited warranty is offered by Lenovo which however, can be upgraded.
Despite the clumsy looks and design, the 500e features a durable and versatile design. It offers a solid battery performance for over 9 hours and 47 minutes with heavy usage. The audio system is pretty decent and the 13-inch screen is colorful and features wide viewing angles. Overall, this Chromebook makes a decent option for school & college students.
