Why almost every Nigerian wants to drive a Toyota Corolla
Durability: Toyota Corolla Cars have this fragile look which makes some car users under-estimate the unique features of the car that makes it durable. Nigerians are conscious of the fact that exotic cars should be kept for special occasions while simple and durable cars should be used for business and other running. Nigeria is one of the highest users of Toyota corolla in the world. The car is rugged, strong reliable and specially built to withstand rigorous driving conditions on Nigerian roads. Many Nigerians feel like their garage is not yet complete without a Toyota Corolla. This car hardly overheats even when subjected to terrible traffic. One of the cars you will Hardly see keeping the owner stranded along the road is the Toyota Corolla. This car is good to go through all weathers. It is ready for summer with its standard air-conditioning system to keep the atmosphere cool. Its fog lights help during the Harmatthan period and it is never shy to run in the rain. Some users risk delaying servicing yet the car still keeps moving.
Readily Available Spare Parts: Some cars are very lovely but gets to park down due to lack of spare parts. One of the important things to consider when buying a car is availability of spare parts when need for repair and replacement arises. Certain car parts are due for change after a while regardless of how careful it is driven. Parts like brake pads, fuel pumps, shafts, bearings, bushing and shock absobers will require change after a while. The car gets parked down when the parts are not readily available. Some part dealers also inflate prices unreasonable when they notice scarcity of a car part. Toyota Corolla parts are one of the most common car parts in Nigeria.
Fuel Economy: Toyota Corolla is one of the most Economical when it comes to fuel consumption. This is due to the fact that the engines come in specs ranging from 1.4Ltr. To 1.8Ltr engines except the sport versions which comes with bigger engines. Nigeria has been faced with an Economy that gets to increase fuel price to make ends meet and generate enough money to run the Government. This has called for buying cars wisely. More Nigerians try buying cars that won't seize food from their tables. One of such is Toyota's corolla cars.
Affordable: Toyota Cars are affordable cars. The prices are very ok for an average Nigerian. The prices get to increase due import duty and year of manufacture but the car still remains affordable.
Comfort: Toyota Corolla is not an Exotic car but it still has good interior that avails comfortable environment for users to enjoy.
It comes with soft adjustable chairs and back space big enough for three passengers.
What you should know about the 2018 Toyota Corolla
Some of the Special features of Corolla from Toyota;
Standard Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
Using an in-vehicle camera and radar to help detect a vehicle or a pedestrian in front of you, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) can help you mitigate or avoid a potential collision. If the system determines that a frontal collision is likely, it prompts you to take action using audio and visual alerts. If you notice the potential collision and apply the brakes, PCS w/PD may apply additional force using Brake Assist (BA). If you don’t brake in time, it may automatically apply the brakes to reduce your speed, helping to minimize the likelihood of a frontal collision or reduce its severity.
Standard Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
Under certain circumstances, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) is designed to detect lane departure on roads with clear markings. LDA only activates when you’re traveling at a speed of 32 mph or faster. When you hear and see the alert, after carefully checking the road around you, you should safely direct your vehicle back to the center of your lane. In addition, Corolla’s Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P) and Electronic Power Steering (EPS) include Steering Assist functionality. When it’s activated and senses that you’re unintentionally drifting, the system may automatically make small corrective steering inputs to help keep your vehicle in its lane.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
Helps prevent wheels from slipping sideways when cornering or sudden steering
VSC is a system that helps prevent side skids and help stabilize the vehicle while turning on a curve. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) report, vehicles equipped with VSC compared to those without can effectively reduce single-vehicle accidents by 35% for automobiles and 67% for Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV).
When the vehicle senses a loss of traction or a slip, braking is automatically applied to all 4 individual wheels and engine power is reduced to help secure the safety of the vehicle. For example, if the steering wheel refuses to turn from over-speeding (under-steering), the vehicle will take control to steer toward the inner curve. Also, when the vehicle begins to spin from abrupt steering handling (over-steering), the vehicle will take control to steer toward the outer curve.
VSC is designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control, and it is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Also, the system will not be able to surpass the performance of the quality of the tires.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Helps prevent accidents caused by decreased tire air pressure
This system will alert drivers when critically low tire air pressure is detected.
There are two different types of sensors in this system: a direct method, in which a pressure sensor on each tire employs direct pressure, and an indirect method, in which the ABS monitors low air pressure from the sensor on each tire.
Approaching Vehicle Audible System
This helps to Notify pedestrians around of your vehicle
EV-operated (Electric Vehicle) hybrid cars run very quietly. In the case in Japan, every time the vehicle is driven at 25km/h or reversing, the system can notify pedestrians with an automated alert sound.
