On Alibaba, you will find suppliers of mobile phones and smart phones from leading Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Huawei, HTC, and ZTE. You can also buy accessories or even new or refurbished phones from Samsung, BlackBerry, Sony, Nokia, Apple, and more.

Before we proceed, let’s differentiate between Alibaba, AliExpress and Alibaba Wholesale.
- ALIBABA: this is the mother store where you can purchase items at incredibly lowest price you can ever imagine. BUT, Alibaba is not meant for the purchase of personal items. You can only get items for resell at ridiculously lowest price but you will be required to buy in large quantity.
- ALIEXPRESS: is a daughter store of AliBaba where you can purchase items for personal use at cheaper price also but as cheap as Alibaba. You can buy just an item on AliExpress unlike on AliBaba whereyou are expected to buy hundreds or thousands quantities of a particular item.
- ALIBABA WHOLESALE: This is the wholesale version of AliBaba. It is not as cheap as Alibaba while it is cheaper than AliExpress. You can items at cheap rate here if you can’t afford the minimum quantity of the same item on Alibaba.

Alibaba and its two daughter stores offer a secure and risk-free shopping for mobile phones and other products from China. Just find a mobile phone, communicate with the seller to ensure the phone is exactly what you need or make any enquires you need from the seller, then make payment and in 7 to 30 days your mobile phone would be delivered to Nigeria, depending on your chosen/agreed shipping method. Using courier service like DHL is safer and faster (7 to 12 days).
As a matter of security, your payment goes directly to AliExpress (Escrow) and not the seller. The seller gets your payment only when you confirm that you have received the mobile phones you ordered. You can also get refund for any product not delivered by a supplier on AliExpress, if you complain about it. However, if you neither confirm nor complain after a given time, AliExpress will have no other option than to pay the supplier. Buyers from Nigeria can make payments on AliExpress with MasterCard and Visa debit/credit cards issued by Nigerian banks. Other payment methods available on AliExpress include Western Union, Web Money, Maestro Debit card and Wire Transfer.
If you are a fan of Android based smart phones from more established Chinese brands like Xiaomi, HTC, Lenovo, ZTE, and Huawei, you can often get them cheaper on AliExpress. Even when you add the shipping cost, it will still be cheaper. You can tryout AliExpress next time you are buying a smart phone from these Chinese brands.
If you are planning to start a mobile phone retail business in Nigeria, you should visit Alibaba or its two daughter stores (AliExpress & AliBaba Wholesale) and connect with some of the best suppliers in China.
