Your lips define your face. Cute lips go all the way to brighten your face and add a friendly warm touch to your smile. The lips are the most delicate part of your face because they have no oil glands. That’s why we have to moisturize externally. Having pinkish tinge on the lips is actually a sign of good health. Appropriate care is needed to keep that pinkish tinge on the lips.
So here is how to keep your lips soft, pink and ultimately healthy:
#1 STAY HYDRATED!
Hydration brings out a juicy look to the lips while dry lips look dark and dull. Hydration will combat lips dryness irrespective of the season or weather. Although external application of Moisture is important, internal hydration is vital.
#2 MOISTURIZE YOUR LIPS
Dryness of the lips is one big turn off and if not treated at the right time can cause dark and highly pigmented lips. Lip balms are usually handy, so keep one in your bag and apply it frequently throughout the day. Lip balms are addictive so choose them wisely.
Do well to check for Ingredients like Natural Beeswax, Cadillac Wax, Glycerine, Almond Oil and Vitamin E in your lip balm. You can also apply Vitamin E oil on your lips before going to bed.
#3 COAT YOUR LIPS WITH LIP BALM BEFORE APPLYING LIPSTICK
Coating with lip balm will ensure that your lips are moisturized in spite of the Lipstick on. You can also apply a lip gloss for a juicy pout. Avoid Matte lipsticks as they make the lips dry.
#4 SCRUB YOUR LIPS
By scrubbing your lip you are getting rid of the dead cells. This will result in soft kissable lips. There are several ways of scrubbing your lips; you can simply apply plain, heavy Lip balm thickly on the lips before retiring and scrub off the dead cell with a tooth brush next morning while brushing.
You can make a sugar lips scrub by mixing in some granulated sugar with petroleum jelly or your lip balm, mix it very well and apply a layer on your lips. Scrub your lips in a gentle circular motion and wipe off with a damp cloth. You will be amazed at how soft your lips would become.
#5 AVOID DARK LIPSTICKS
Dark and pigmented Lipsticks may prevent you from having the pinkish tinge on your lips. Dark colored cause pigmented lips. Use Soft Colors or nudes preferably. In addition, use lipsticks from trusted brands only as some lipsticks may contain toxins.
#6 DO NOT SMOKE!
Nicotine causes discoloration and darkening of the lips. So it is advisable not to smoke at all, and if you already do, it is best to quit smoking if you really want healthy pink lips.
#7 USE GOOD COSMETICS ONLY!
It is harmful to use a lot of artificial cosmetics on the lips as they usually contain corrosive and unhealthy chemicals in them. Prolonged use of cosmetics, especially the cheap ones on the lips can cause pigmentation. Select cosmetics that have nutrients and natural extracts like shea butter, jojoba, pomegranate seed oil etc in their composition.
Also, you should remove lipsticks and other lip products with natural oils like coconut or almond oil. Do well to check the expiry date of the cosmetic you use before applying on the lips as using an expired product can cause severe allergy.
#8 AVOID CHLORINE CONTACT
Chlorinated water causes darkening or pigmentation of the lips. It is therefore important to avoid contact of the lips with chlorinated water.
#9 MAINTAIN A HEALTHY DIET!
Diet rich in vitamins such as fruits and vegetables is needed for healthy lips. Vitamin C and other vitamins naturally moisturize the lips and reduce pigmentation. Hence, it is a vital to have a vitamin-rich diet!
If only you could stick to our easy tips mentioned above, your lips would become succulent, soft, pink and healthy. What’s as awesome as having soft kissable lips? Care for your lips to have these!
