Lenovo ThinkPad P52s Review – A Highly Durable Workstation

If you are looking for a durable mobile workstation with high horsepower, the brand-new Lenovo ThinkPad P52s is here for you. It has a long battery life, sharp display and powerful speakers. What makes it stand apart is that the laptop comes military-grade certifications that make it highly rigid and robust in nature. Let’s take a look at the other parameters and see if this Lenovo laptop is good overall.

Excellent Battery life, Keyboard is awesome, 4K Display is extremely crisp, Speakers are very powerful and MIL-STD 810G rating means the laptop is very durable.

: Webcam is not good; Graphics performance is below average and the ThinkPad 52s heats up more than usual.

The design is classic and minimal as it was with the previous model. The black exterior is smooth and soft to touch and it is made of plastic reinforced with glass fiber. There is a logo of Lenovo at the top left which is steel-colored with the famous glowing dot of Lenovo over it.

When you open the stylish Lenovo ThinkPad P52s, the first thing you notice is that the backlit keyboard which is island-styled which is quite strong. The mouse buttons stand out as they are accented in red color. On the right, there is a fingerprint reader. Another well thought out attribute is the neat privacy shutter that is there for the webcam. Elegant and svelte is how you can describe the Lenovo ThinkPad, but it is not as slim as the Apple MacBook Pro, though it is thinner than Dell Precision 3520. The amount of ports available in Lenovo ThinkPad is also quite good.

You won’t believe that this apparently soft and smooth looking machine has passed 11 military grade certification tests – MIL-STD 810G, which means that it can withstand extreme humidity, mechanical shocks, vibrations, temperatures, sand, high altitude, solar radiations, etc.

As far as security is concerned, it comes with Intel vPro for managing it remotely. There are IR cameras for accessing Smart card reader, fingerprint reader and Windows Hello

The display is detailed as well as decently bright with the help of 3840 x 2160-pixel LED backlit feature. Though the brightness is less than the MacBook Pro, it is definitely better than the Dell Precision.

With the matte palm rest, the keyboard is quite comfortable to use and it is stylish too. The number pads are clean and the keys have great backlighting. The annoying thing here is the function key being before the control key. The keys need 72 grams of force and travel at a range of 1.7 millimeter which is not bad and can produce near about 60 words per minute. The pointing stick is better than many.

:

The speakers are phenomenal. The audio is intense even at half volume and it blasts the room when the volume is full. When playing music, the beats of the guitar and percussions can be heard accurately and fiercely. The effect of the audio is enhanced due to the Dolby software that Lenovo has.

The performance of This ThinkPad is great due to the 1.9 GHz Intel Core i7-865OU processor. The laptop was able to handle smoothly even when we have multiple tabs open on the Web browser, streaming video on YouTube and playing a game in the background. The problem here is the graphics performance, which leaves you wanting more.

You get more than sufficient battery life with the Lenovo ThinkPad P52s. It can easily last you 8+ hours with simple tasks such as browsing and Word processing over Wi-Fi at around 40-50% brightness. The pricing starts from $1,250 and can go all the way up to $2,050 depending on the configuration and warranty offered.
