TECNO CAMON 11 PRO REVIEW

Design

As far as design is concerned, the TECNO Camon 11 Pro has a thing going for it. It is finely designed and to say for a fact, it redefined design for the TECNO Camon series. This device is relatively thin, light weighted and most amazingly, has that gloss back (which obviously is a fingerprint magnet).

The only flaw notable in the design of the Camon 11 is the large bezel on the display. As can be seen, there’s a notch (this is TECNO’s first attempt at adding a notch to their device), and the reason devices have notches is to get the most screen they can to the front of the device. Having those large bezels is quite counterintuitive if you need to know my opinion on that. Otherwise, you have a nicely designed smartphone here.

The display on the other hand which automatically qualifies this device to be called a phablet (6.2-inch display), sadly, is another thing most of us are already complaining about. I mean, why the downgrade to an HD+ display from the full HD we got on the Camon X device. One thing this would help in though would be getting the users better battery life.

Camera

The camera which is supposed to be the strength of this series of smartphones from TECNO proved to leave up to the hype, at least to a large extent.

The one thing it had going for it was an oversharpened and color saturated image. In as much as that isn’t my preference when it comes to taking photos with a smartphone, I came to realize most day-to-day smartphone users thought it was better and preferred its photos.

While talking about the camera, the front camera, on the other hand, is a 24MP shooter. Still has a decent representation of what the back camera does (the over sharpening) still goes on here.

The one thing that was a total miss on the cameras was the Bokeh mode (or portrait mode). That thing literally had several misses, it would likely give you photos that had the edge of subjects blurred out most often than not. I think I’d stay out of that feature from this device if I’d want to get the  TECNO  Camon 11 Pro.

Performance

Performance on the Camon 11 Pro is quite amazing. After running Antutu benchmark on this device, we came with a decent score of 79253. Note that the Camon 11 Pro comes in with 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM and runs on an MTK Helio P22 processor clocked at 2.0GHz.

Ran a couple games like Asphalt, PUBG, Subway Surfers, Temple Run 2 and it could handle these games just fine.

It’s worth knowing that you have Android 8.1 Oreo with TECNO’s HiOS 4.1 running herein. In my opinion, HiOS isn’t an Android “skin thingy” I love. I tried sticking to it, but it was terrible. I’d advise you throw in a launcher to enjoy this device. Do let me know in the comments if you are able to cope with HiOS if you are a TECNO mobile phone user.

Battery

If there’s yet another thing you’d get to be nice about this phone asides the design, I think I’d say it’s the battery. Basically, the fact that you have an HD+ display instead of a full HD transcends to a decent battery life of the 375mAH packed in this device.

Other Features

The one unique feature you can find on this device is the introduction of the notch. Though it doesn’t work well with a couple of apps as it stands in the way, you can simply turn it off (or rather turn on black bars at the top) from the settings.

You also get Face Unlock and fingerprint unlock for security options on this device.

Final Verdict

On a conclusive note, TECNO Camon 11 Pro is a uniquely designed device, although the body is made of plastic. It is actually not worth an upgrade from the predecessor- Camon X- if you dont like the design.  But if you love to have new stuff and running on a budget, you might want to consider purchasing the Tecno Camon 11 Pro.
