Assassin's Creed Origins ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS delves further back into the past than any previous Assassin's Creed game, transporting players to Ancient Egypt circa the time of Cleopatra. It also presents the series' biggest world yet, allowing players to explore the entirety of Egypt, from Alexandria and the Nile to sprawling deserts, Memphis, and the great pyramids. Players assume the roles of Bayek -- a sort of ancient police constable -- and (occasionally) his wife, Aya, both of whom begin the game consumed with thoughts of avenging their dead son. As the story progresses, they discover that his death was more than the work of just a few people, that there is a secret organization with more nefarious ambitions than they could have imagined. They also learn there's something even more mysterious at play, something they can't understand but that the women experiencing their memories via Abstergo's mobile Animus machine in the present are desperate to know. Play involves plenty of third-person combat against human enemies and exotic animals whose resources can be used for crafting, as well as time spent exploring the vast expanses of Egypt, running through cities, riding across the desert, and climbing ruins to unravel secrets, loot ancient tombs, and solve riddles and puzzles. All of these activities earn players experience and money, allowing Bayek to learn new skills, grow stronger, and equip better weapons and gear.

Cuphead CUPHEAD stars a mischievous kid (with a cup for a head) living in a place called Inkwell Isle. He foolishly enters the Devil's Casino where he finds out -- as most gamblers do -- that the House always wins. He can't pay, so the Devil demands his soul in payment; he also says he'll let the kid off if he can collect the souls of other Inkwell Isle residents. This sets the stage for a series of shooter-style, multiphase boss battles interspersed with a few run-and-gun sequences. Successfully clearing the latter earns you gold, which you can use to buy useful weapon and skill upgrades.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS pits up to 100 players against one another in a winner-take-all, kill-or-be-killed battle royale where your main goal is to simply outlive the competition. After being airdropped onto an isolated island, you'll have to rely on skill and luck as you scavenge what tools and equipment you can from the surrounding area in order to survive. Of course, you're not the only one in this game. Other players are also searching for the right tools to take you out as well. It's not just the other competitors you'll have to contend with, either. The border of the play area sporadically shrinks, forcing players to occasionally sprint to a new section of the map or get trapped out of bounds. And in this game, the only penalty box is a coffin.

Wolfenstein II The classic 3-D shooter that ate away countless productivity hours in the early ’90s, and then was resurrected on the iPhone earlier this year, is not only back but darker than ever before. Activision's WOLFENSTEIN shines a light on the Nazis' dark obsession with the occult, as you resurrect your role as B.J. Blazkowicz, a decorated member of the Office of Secret Actions (OSA). Using brains and brawn, you need to stop the Germans from harnessing power from a parallel dimension to create a weapon of unprecedented mass destruction. Step into battle with a diverse collection of Allied, Axis, and experimental Nazi weapons, in both the story mode and varied multiplayer options.
Prey PREY is a sci-fi first-person shooter that takes place on a huge ship orbiting the Earth. Players take on the role of Tommy, an American Cherokee living on a reservation, who's bouncing off the walls with boredom and wants to leave with his girlfriend, Jen, another Cherokee. When the game opens, Tommy is at Jen's bar -- weird lights appear and players (and the whole bar) are abducted into the mother ship. From here the story pretty much fades into the basic \"save the world from aliens\" plot.

Sea of Thieves SEA OF THIEVES aspires to give us the power to live out our greatest pirate fantasies. Players band together in groups of two to four (you can also play alone, but it makes things significantly harder) to form a seagoing crew. The team votes on a voyage, identifies their goal on a map, then sets about raising and angling sails while navigating a sloop or galleon toward their objective. You may encounter other player-controlled ships along the way, which could lead to seafaring combat likely to involve cannon fire, patching hull holes with planks, and bailing water with a bucket. Once you've arrived at your destination, you'll drop anchor and head ashore, find the location where X marks the spot, pull out a shovel, and begin digging for treasure, keeping an eye out for angry skeletons, poisonous snakes, and any additional supplies or loot that might be scattered around the island. Treasure in hand, you'll head to the nearest outpost to trade it for gold -- which can be spent on gear and items to make your pirate stand out -- and to increase your pirate reputation so that you can purchase more perilous (and rewarding) treasure hunting voyages.
